Bhote Kosi is one of Nepal’s shortest but wildest rivers. The origins of this roaring wall of white water gives the river it’s name; Bhote meaning coming from Tibet and Kosi meaning river, Bhote Kosi, the river that hails from Tibet. The path of this river is the steepest in Nepal creating a virtual year-round torrent that provides some of the most exciting rafting in the world. The river is fed by the melting snows and glaciers of Mount Shisa Pangma, the worlds tenth highest mountain and creates one of the most dramatic and furious rivers to carve its way through Nepal’s mountains and rolling Himalayan foothills
This certainly isn’t the rafting trip for the faint hearted, but if you are into intense physical activity, fun and non-stop heart pounding action, then you should seriously consider this trip as the white water challenge for you, be it in a raft or a kayak.
This thrill-a-minute wild ride is a serious introduction to getting your pants thrashed by white water for the novice paddlers or one hell of a wild, fast and nearly rides for experienced rafters. A great time will be at by all…………at your own risk!
Definitely one for the experienced kayaker who does not mind going for a swim without his boat. An endless series of rapids designed by nature to challenge and test your courage and paddling skills (if you can hold onto your paddle that is!). If you have the experience and you are, a bit crazy you will love this wild ride and come back for more and more and more
Day 01: A standard early morning drive takes us to our put-in point. We can get a good look at the river from here. Before we begin, we will take lunch and set up the rafts. Your guides will then issue you with the standard rafting equipment: a paddle, a splash jacket, a helmet and a life jacket. We then head to the river for our safety briefing. Of course, we will also tell you what to do in case you fall out of the raft! We have one very wild afternoon of rafting before pulling out, making camp and finally letting out a deep breath over some rafter’s rum punch.
Day 02: Yippee, let us go back up the river and do it all again. After lunch, we drive back to Kathmandu and thank our lucky stars to be drinking a cold beer with functioning limbs!
