Island Peak (6173m/20,252ft), also known as Imja Tse, it is  most popular trekking and climbing, which is situated Northern part of khambu region. Island peak is challenging and technically difficult climbing. It is the extension of Lhotse Shar, which is very popular for trekking trail that can be reached crossing Everest Base Camp. The name of the peak is Island because it seems like an island from Dingboche. Being located on the top of Chhukung Glacier, the peak is very challenging for climbing. The difficult geographical landscape between Mt. Amadablam and Lhotse makes it challenging to reach the summit.The views from the summit are super including the south face of Lhotse (8,516m/27,939ft) and Ama Dablam (6,812m/22349ft). This mountain is a truly exhilarating climb with breathtaking scenery and with good weather it is not unusual for the whole group to reach the summit.

Island Peak is not so difficult undertaking for a beginner, but should be physical fit and basic knowledge about mountaineering climber wishing to enter the incredible world of mountain climbing. Our company also takes us into the heartland of the Khumbu Valley and Sherpa culture. This trekking and climbing make you more enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

Detail Itineraries

  • Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer Hotel (1,350m/4,428ft)High Spirits assists to welcome and receive you in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and transfer you to the Hotel for overnight accommodation as per booking. In the evening a welcome dinner will be hosted by High Spirit Trek. Overnight stay in Kathmandu. (1300M)
  • Day 02Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840 M/9,317ft), 25 minutes and trek to Phakding (2,610 M/8,562ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),We take an early morning flight to Lukla from Kathmandu and a landing on a steep mountain runway brings us to the start of our trek at the village of Lukla [2850m]. After landing we meet supporting crew in Lukla and start trekking from there. we head up the Dudh Kosi Valley on a well-marked trail and then Overnight stay at lodge in Phakding.
  • Day 03 Trek from Phakding to Namche (3,440 M/11.286ft), 6-7 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After a breakfast at Phakding, your trek begins from there toward Namche Bazaar (3440m) which takes about 5-6 hours through Beautiful Khumbu villages. Beyond Monjo is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park which was set-up in order to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment where you get tea house or lodge accommodation in full board basis. Overnight stay at lodge in Namche.
  • Day 04 Acclimatize, rest and exploring day around Namche (3.440 M/11,286ft), (Lodging + B-L-D),Today is the rest day, we can tour Namche Bazaar which is the primary town of the Everest region and has government offices, ATMs, restaurants shops, internet cafes and a colorful market. We can hike-up to Sagarmatha National Park and enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayan. It is an ideal place to spend a day, acclimatizing to the new altitude before heading off towards Syangboche. Overnight stay at lodge in Namche.
  • Day 05 Trek from Namche to Tengboche (3,860 M/12,664ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),Today you trek about 5-6 hours from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3850m), we start our trek towards Tengboche enjoying superb view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and close up view of Thamserku. Our trek follows on the gradual trail with few ups and downs overlooking magnificent view of the great Himalaya. Overnight stay at lodge in Tengboche.
  • Day 06Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410 M/14,468ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),From Tengboche you start trek to Dingboche (4350m) which takes about 4-5 hours. We start our trek towards Tengboche enjoying superb view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and close up view of Lhotse. Our trek follows on the gradual trail with few ups and downs overlooking magnificent view of the great Himalaya. Overnight stay at lodge in Dingboche.
  • Day 07Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,910 M/16,108ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),You begin your trek Dingboche toward Lobuche (5018m) after having breakfast, on the way lunch, which takes about 4-5. At the top of this climb there are many stone cairns, built as memorials to the many Sherpas who have died while climbing Mt Everest. The path then climbs gently along the glacier. Overnight stay at lodge in Lobuche.
  • Day 08Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,140 M/16,863ft) via Everest Base Camp (5,441 M/17,851ft), 6-7 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),Today it’s a long and gritty day. We climb through meadows and moraine stones steps to reach Gorak shep, by either climbing to Kala Patthar or continue heading to Everest base camp. From Everest base camp we do not see Mount Everest. However, from Kala Patthar, we get to see the entire south face of Mt. Everest. The Everest Base Camp is stunningly beautiful. We can enjoy amazing views of Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori mountains from the base camp. We walk back towards Gorak Shep where we spend the night. Overnight stay at lodge in Gorak Shep.
  • Day 09Trek from Gorak Shep to Lobuche (4,910 M/16,108ft), via Kala Patthar (5,550 M/18,208ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After early morning Breakfast, we have to climb Kala Patthar at (5545m.) and enjoy a spectacular sunrise views from Kala Patthar you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam and many more. Overnight stay at lodge in Lobuche.
  • Day 10Trek from Lobuche to Dingboche (4,410 M/14,468ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After having breakfast, we first hike half an hour downhill to the riverside then through the lush forest, across the river and finally climb up to Pangboche (3,860m/12,664ft). Here you can experience magnificent Chorten and Mani walls. We then ascend to Pheriche and from here a moderate walk will lead you to the Imja Valley. From here, we climb the last and the steepest climb of the day and finally reach Dingboche. The night is spent at the lodge in Dingboche. Overnight Stay in Dingboche.
  • Day 11 Trek from Dingboche to Chhukung (4,730 M/15,518ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After having breakfast, the day’s walk begins towards the east of the Chukkung valley through stone walled fields, Imja Khola valley. This rocky trail is overshadowed by the beautiful views of Mt. Lhotse and Ama Dablam. On reaching Chhukung, we check into the lodge and meet our climbing guide. Our guide will brief you regarding the following climb. You can also discuss your queries related to climbing with our climbing guides. We will also check the necessary gears and equipments to get prepared for the next day’s climb. Overnight Stay in Chhukung.
  • Day 12Trek from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp (5,150 M/16,896ft), 7-8 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After having breakfast, we will be lead by our climbing team towards the south, which then heads toward the main valley in the east. The trail is fairly pleasant along the stream. The trail heads towards huge rock and then becomes glacial as it crosses Imja and Lhotse glacier moraine. After this we finally reach the valley where we set our camp for the day. The base camp presents the magnificent view of the southwestern face of Island peak. The night is spent in a tented camp at the base camp.
  • Day 13 Climb up to High Camp (5,481 M/17,982ft), 7-8 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After having breakfast, we start the climb up the hill making our way through the narrow slopes and uncompromising paths. After 2-3 hours walk upwards, the trail will finally take you to the High camp of Island peak where we stop for overnight. The high camp itself offers the spectacular view of lofty pinnacle and glacier surrounding the Island Peak. At high camp, all the required elements and gears will be re-checked, your boots will be fitted with crampons and if required, you may also be provided with the last minute techniques for your following day’s successful climb. The night is spent in a tented camp at the high camp.
  • Day 14Island Peak summit & return back to Chhukung, 8-10 hours (6,189 m/20,305ft) and return back to Base Camp (5,150 M/16,896ft), (Lodging + B-L-D),This day is the day that takes you to your actual destination. Therefore, we start as early as the light permits. The techniques learned earlier will fully come into play today. We walk past short rock steps, seracs, crevasses, snout of summit glacier and icy 40-45 degree slopes to finally get to the summit. On reaching the summit (6189m) you can enjoy the view of breathtaking peaks like Lhotse, Lhotse Middle Peak, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Makalu, Baruntse, and Amadablam. We spend some time taking snaps and then descend all the way to high camp collect the remaining gears and walk all the way to Chhukung. The night is spent at a lodge in Chhukung.
  • Day 15 Trek from Base Camp to Khumjung (3,780m/12,401ft), 6-7 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After having breakfast at the lodge, the trail heads towards Pangboche and then Tengboche through Rhododendron and pine. The trail then drops, steep down to the valley crosses the suspension bridge and continue towards Khumjung. You can enjoy a hot shower and loosen your muscles. The night is spent at a lodge in Khumjung.
  • Day 16Trek from Khumjung to Namche (3,860 M/12,664ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After having breakfast, we start the day towards Namche Bazaar. The trail first drops down through the ridge and then the walk is fairly easier till Namche Bazaar. We spend the night in Namche Bazaar, where you can enjoy a hot shower and loosen up your muscles. You also have an option to relax in the nearby restaurants, cafés and bakeries. The night is spent at a lodge in Namche Bazaar. Overnight Stay in Namche bazar.
  • Day 18Trek from Namche to Lukla (2,840 M/9,317ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),After the breakfast, we continue our walk downhill from Namche toward the second bridge across the Dudh Koshi River near the meeting point of Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi rivers. Then we walk towards Monjo where on fulfilling the formalities at the check post of the National Park at Monjo, we continue our walk towards Phakding. We stop at Phakding for lunch and soon after the lunch we continue the trail that leads us to Lukla. Along this flat trail you can enjoy prayer stones, rhododendron and pine forest, prayer flags, Sherpa village as well as open plains. This is the last day of the trek. On reaching Lukla you can either spend your time with the rest of the crew members or look for some alone time to summon up the wonderful memories made during the past few days. The night will be spent at a lodge in Lukla.
  • Day 19 Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,350 M/4, 429ft), 25 minutes, (Lodging + B).Today you fly from Lukla to Kathmandu same about 35 minute and we transfer to Hotel. Overnight Stay in Kathmandu.
